Detail of a hand-woven cotton fabric in an intricate grid pattern in shades of navy, brown, teal and white.

Anamaala Woven

Designed and woven by women in Ghana, West Africa. 20% of profits return to local Ghana community.

When a child is born in the Dagaaba region of Ghana, the community is called upon to provide a name. Deliberation takes a while as the baby’s character develops and weeks can pass before a suitable name is chosen.

Annamala means ‘it shall be well’, and it’s the name of Chief & Naa's Production Assistant’s baby girl. This traditional pattern, originally based on the plumage of the guineafowl, is named in her honor.
